Nominate our regional achievers

SOUTHERN Downs Regional Council Mayor Cr Peter Blundell is encouraging local people to nominate individuals or communities for the State Government’s Queensland Regional Achievement and Community Awards.
Cr Blundell said the council was proud to support the awards and its search for local unsung heroes, community leaders and inspirational rural and regional achievers.
“There is just over a week left as we call for our community to Stand Up and Be Counted,” he said.
Nominations need to be lodged by 23 August and are sought in six catergories:

  1. The Prime Super Community of the Year Award
  2. The Peabody Environment and Landcare Award
  3. The Origin Energy Regional Service Award
  4. The Reay Services Energy and Sustainability Award
  5. The Styleprint Youth Leadership Award
  6. The Safeguard Events and Tourism Award

“Nominating is a great way to show how successful our community is in coming together in times of need, creating a sense of pride, generating income for our community and promoting a sustainable community,” he said.
“There are many businesses, organisations and individuals worthy within the Southern Downs – so I encourage you to take the chance and nominate in 2013.”
Winners could see themselves $2500 richer thanks to the Commonwealth Bank. Winners will be announced in Toowoomba at the Gala Dinner Presentation at the Toowoomba Showgrounds on Saturday 9 November.
The Queensland Regional Achievement and Community Awards are proudly presented by the Queensland Government and supported by Angove Family Winemakers and Queensland Country Life.
