THE Condamine Headwaters Landcare Group has announced a series of exciting new workshops designed to assist rural businesses.
Landcare Co-ordinator Catherine Potter said there was two workshops coming up including composting secrets on Monday, 26 August, and a rural business finacial planning workshop on Tuesday, 27 August.
“Composting is a great way of improving your soil and extracting extra value from what is often regarded as waste. But what is really required to turn raw manure into a composted material,” Mrs Potter said.
Property hosts Dan and Jenny Redgen will share their experience with creating compost on-farm using horse manure.
Soil and plant nutrition expert, David Hall, will discuss the practical aspects of on-farm composting by providing details and tips that will maximise the nutrient value of compost.
The workshop morning will start at 9am and includes a light morning tea.
The venue is “Braeview” located on Lyons Road, the Hermitage.
The second workshop will include several guest speakers who will share information and ideas around financial planning, what can be considered with rural businesseses, and what support is available, including government grants.
“This will be a really useful, practical session, and has been organised as a result of landholders wanting to know more in relation to this part of their business,” Mrs Potter said.
The financial planning workshop will start at 8am and run until 11am, at the Jackie Howe Motel Conference Room.
For catering purposes, please RSVP for both workshops to the Landcare Office on (07) 4661 9909.
