YEAR 12 student Joe Worgan from Inverell’s Macintyre High School will compete in the World Dwarf Games at Michigan State University in the USA this month.

Joe just completed his term as school captain and will compete in track, table tennis and soccer as a member of the 33-strong Australian team at the Games. Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall recently met with Joe before he started the long journey from Inverell to Michigan.
“It was a real pleasure to spend some time with Joe to get a rundown on the program and events he will be a part of at the world games,” Mr Marshall said.
“Joe is a wonderful ambassador, not only for his school, but also for the region and I commend him on being such a positive role model.
“His commitment to the games so far includes attending three national training camps, fundraising and improving his fitness before he leaves next week for the USA.
“Joe’s overcome a setback with a recent knee injury but he’s passed all fitness tests and cannot wait to start the competition.
“I’m sure everyone joins me in wishing Joe an enjoyable and successful games experience.”
The World Dwarf Games this year have attracted more than 400 competitors from 17 countries, with the Australian team the third largest behind the USA and the United Kingdom. The games have been held every four years since 1993 with this year’s games being the largest held so far.
