Relay for Life needs support

By JONATHON HOWARD

MOMENTUM is building for Warwick’s first Relay for Life event, with several teams taking up the fight against cancer.

Set to run on 7 September, teams are being encouraged to get together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember lost loved ones and fight back against the disease.
To get the ball rolling, a group of Warwick nurses, family and friends have formed “Jackie’s Bunch” – and they need your support.
Jackie’s Bunch is headed up by Monique Bunch and Petrize Randall who have been busy seeking donations to support their 24-hour relay.
Ms Bunch’s mother, Jackie Bunch, was diagnosed with cancer in January this year and sadly lost her battle and passed away in April.
Ms Bunch said Relay for Life was a way to honour her mother’s memory and to continue the fight to find a cure.
“We’re relaying in memory of Mum, those who have passed and for those whose battle continues,” she said.
“We hope to help with the fight against cancer by raising funds to help with research towards finding a cure for a disease which affects so many families.”
As part of their raffle prizes, Jackie’s Bunch is offering a two-night stay at the luxury Spicers Peak Lodge.
Ms Bunch said Spicers Peak had donated one of the nights and Ray Bunch Machinery provided the second night.
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at Ray Bunch Machinery, Cafe Jacqui’s, Warwick Gardens Galore, Classic Dimensions, Killarney Co-op and donations, Bells Butchers and Darling Downs Insurance Brokers. Donations can also be made through the Cancer Council website under “Jackie’s Bunch”.
There are now a total of seven teams expected to Relay for Life at Risdon Oval Warwick.
