Learn all the right moves

CAPTION: Renowned indigenous dancer Travis De Vries will host a series of dance workshops this weekend.

A FREE contemporary dance workshop led by renowned indigenous artist Travis De Vries will take place at the Stanthorpe Civic Centre from today, Thursday 20 June, to Saturday 22 June.
Growing up in the Granite Belt, Travis is of Gamilaroi, Dutch, Scottish, and First Fleet descent. He trained in movement studies at NAISDA Dance College and graduated in 2010.
Since graduating, Travis has worked extensively in the Australian and international dance circuit mainly with Bangarra Dance Theatre and had the opportunity to work with world renowned choreographers, including performing works by Stephen Page, Francis Rings, Daniel McKinley, Elma Kris and Graham Murphy.
In 2012, Travis travelled with the Australian ballet to New York, performing Stephen Page’s “waramuk”.
Travis’ workshop will look at the modern ways to express ideas through the different artistic disciplines. Engaging you to explore your own artistic voice and the way through which you express yourself.
This will include looking at dance, theatre, vocal, percussion and visual expression ideas in a fully interactive and immersive environment to stimulate and inspire newly starting and old artists.
The time and dates are as follows – Thursday 20 and Friday 21 June, 3.30pm to 5.30pm, and Saturday 22 June, 11am to 12.30pm and 1pm to 2.30pm.
