Inspiring works on show

CAPTION: Killarney’s Willow Gallery will feature works by renowned indigenous artist John WeerongaBartoo.

ARTWORKS by internationally recognised indigenous artist, John WeerongaBartoo, are currently on display at Killarney’s Willow Gallery.
The Elbow Valley artist has exhibited in New York, London, Istanbul, KualaLumpar and across the world and is one of the members of the Killarney artists’ cooperative.
Mr WeerongaBartoo was born in Brisbane and is a descendent of the Kooma tribe from South Western Queensland. He taught himself the traditional method of dreamtime painting over 10 years ago and since that time has enjoyed critical acclaim around the world.
John has established himself as one of this region’s most successful artists. His artwork has been sold by auction houses Sothebys and Christies.
Accompanied by detailed descriptions and stories of each of the works, the feature gives the viewer the opportunity to contemplate the significance of patterns and symbols incorporated into the dot painting style and to understand more about indigenous story-telling and perspectives.
The gallery is proud to place his work in centre position as featured artist until mid-July.
This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase one of his artworks, which are held in private collections across the world.
Willow Gallery also welcomes new watercolour works by emerging artist and local Githabul woman, Kim Rush.
The Willow Gallery is operated by a co-operative group of artists and interested individuals under the auspices of the Killarney Area Promotions Association. The gallery showcases the talent of local artists and provides visitor information.
The Willow Gallery, in Willow St Killarney, is open on weekends and public holidays from 9am-4pm.
