Weeroona Park playground opens

INSTALLATION of the brand new Weeroona Park play gear in Stanthorpe is complete and ready for action.
The Southern Downs Regional council funded $150,000 capital project will provide endless entertainment and adventure for children of all ages.
The new playground structures will challenge kids while meeting Australian Safety Standards.
The addition of the new Liberty Swing will allow children in wheelchairs to ability to experience the joy and freedom of a swing. All the new structures are surrounded by softfall and covered by a large shade sail.
“It’s wonderful for our community to have this new play gear,” Mayor Cr Peter Blundell said.
“Council is keeping to its commitment to support a healthy, active Southern Downs lifestyle and is also leading the way with this innovative approach,” the Mayor said.
“It will be great for children to be able to enjoy the new equipment, particularly the liberty swing.”
“Our Parks and Gardens team have done an outstanding job in making substantial upgrades to our parks across the Southern Downs,” Cr Blundell said.
An announcement on the official opening of the new playground will be made in the near future.
