Abbey of the Roses still on market

By Jeremy Sollars

Warwick’s iconic Abbey of the Roses is still on the market after an auction on the Gold Coast last Sunday 28 January.
The Abbey is being marketed nationally by Ray White Prestige on the Gold Coast and while no qualified bids were able to be made under auction terms last Sunday agent Josh Thomas said there was “significant interest” in what has been described as “Australia’s cheapest castle”.
The Abbey was last sold in 2010 for $1.525 million.
Mr Thomas told the Free Times negotiations with potentially interested parties were “ongoing” this week.
“We did have a fairly tight timeframe with the marketing of this property leading up to the auction, but it was designed to ensure that particularly potential interstate buyers became aware of it who might otherwise not have been,” he said.
He said interested parties included both Queensland and interstate interests, but the property was still “very much on the market”.
