Blue-green algae ‘moderate’ in dam

The blue-green algae level in Warwick’s Leslie Dam is currently classed as ‘moderate’, according to dam operator SunWater.
Moderate algae levels do not prevent water-based recreation or fishing but those with sensitive skin conditions are advised to use caution if planning to come into contact with water in the dam.
Official algae levels do not reflect the suitability of the water for drinking.
Leslie Dam is currently at 12.8% of full capacity, with 13,589ML in storage. The dam’s full storage capacity is 106,250.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting continued hot conditions for Warwick and Stanthorpe for the rest of this week with just the chance of a shower on Saturday.
Daytime temperatures for Warwick will hover around the 34 degree mark, while Stanthorpe can expect maximums of 30 to 31 degrees.
