Suspended Ipswich City Council chief executive officer Jim Lindsay has resigned from his position, it was announced yesterday, Wednesday 17 January.
Mr Lindsay – who is a former Warwick Credit Union board member and Warwick City Council senior manager – is facing official corruption and misconduct charges and is next due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday 26 February.
He has not yet been required to enter a plea.
Ipswich City Council Chief Operations Officer Craig Maudsley is also facing charges and has likewise resigned as of yesterday.
An Ipswich City Council statement said Mr Lindsay had more than 10 years’ service and Mr Maudsley over 30 years.
Ipswich Mayor Andrew Antoniolli said it was a personal decision for both officers.
“Council accepted their resignations without incurring any additional payments other than lawfully entitled accrued annual leave and long service leave.
“Mr Lindsay and Mr Maudsley have other personal matters before the court so it would be inappropriate to make any further comments.”
