BREAKING: Southern Downs Independent candidate Rob Mackenzie and One Nation’s Josh Coyne have agreed to swap preferences at the Queensland election on Saturday 25 November.
Mr Mackenzie announced the deal in Warwick today, Tuesday 7 November, a short time after the draw was held to determine the order in which candidates would appear on the ballot papers for the Southern Downs seat.
Mr Mackenzie told the Free Times he was happy to enter into a preference deal with One Nation as Mr Coyne was the “the only (other candidate) who has approached me, he’s the only other born and bred local and he has a rural background”.
The ballot paper draw is as follows:
1. James Lister (LNP)
2. Joel Ritchters (ALP)
3. Rob Mackenzie (Independent)
4. Josh Coyne (One Nation)
5. Jay Nauss (Independent)
6. Antonia van Geuns (The Greens)
The ALP candidate, Joel Richters, was endorsed by the party this morning.
Mr Richters is based in Goondiwindi where he is the operational services manager for Queensland Health, but is currently living in Roma while in a secondment role.
