Sparkling line-up expected as street parade returns

Entries for the 2017 Warwick Rodeo Street Parade close this Friday 20 October.
More than 30,000 rodeo and campdraft spectators are expected this year when ‘Australia’s Most Famous’ rodeo kicks off next Monday 23 October with a week of campdrafting.
The Rodeo Street Parade – sponsored by John Dee – will be held on Palmerin Street on Saturday 28 October from 10am.
The parade has been running since 1970 but was called off by the Southern Downs Regional Council last year, citing a lack of community support.
The 2017 parade has the theme of ‘Denim and Diamonds’ and will include newly-crowned Warwick Rodeo Queen Meghan Stewart along with professional rodeo competitors and floats featuring community members and groups.
The council says everyone is invited to register a float or bicycle and “be part of this great community event while showcasing your business, organisation, school or cause in a fun environment”.
Children are also encouraged to decorate their bicycle and enter, riding the full length of the parade route.
There is more than $2000 up for grabs in prize money as category winners will receive $500 along with joining an illustrious group of parade participants.
Float categories include:
* Best in theme.
* School exhibit.
* Business and commercial.
* Club, sport of other organisation.
* Decorated bike (for children – category winner receives $100).
Entries for the John Dee Rodeo Street Parade close at 5pm this Friday 20 October. Registration costs $10.
Registration forms are available at the Visitor Information Centre at Warwick Town Hall, 72 Palmerin Street, or on the council’s website at www.sdrc.qld.gov.au
