A Crime and Corruption Commission probe into Ipswich City Council has resulted in a current board member of Warwick Credit Union and a former senior Warwick Shire Council manager being charged with corruption.
Jim Lindsay – who has been stood aside from his role as chief executive officer of Ipswich City Council – was arrested by CCC investigators late yesterday, Thursday 14 September, and charged with one count of official corruption.
Mr Lindsay was the assistant general manager of Warwick Credit Union from June 2003 to December 2006, prior to which he was director of Finance and Corporate Services with the former Warwick Shire Council from 1995.
The Warwick Credit Union website lists Mr Lindsay as a board member and describes him as a “skilled accountant with more than 25 years in the finance sector, (holding) a Bachelor of Business and a Masters of Business Administration”.
Mr Lindsay is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 11 October.
The CCC investigation into Ipswich City Council has so far also resulted in extortion and other charges being brought against former Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale and a misconduct charge against Ipswich City Council’s chief operating officer of works, parks and recreation Paul Mausley.
Former Southern Downs Regional Council chief executive officer Andrew Roach is Ipswich City Council’s current chief financial officer.
