BREAKING: Tenterfield Shire Council chief executive officer Damien Connor has resigned from his role today, Wednesday 14 June, Mayor Peter Petty confirmed in a statement released a short time ago.
Mr Connor has been on a combination of sick and annual leave since early May, with speculation having been rife locally about his future with the council.
In his statement Cr Petty said Mr Connor’s contract with council “will cease at close of business on Tuesday 4 July, 2017, with council shortly to consider the recruitment process for Mr Connor’s replacement”.
“I wish Damien and his family every success in the future, and sincerely thank him for the tremendous job he has done in the 12 months he has been with the Tenterfield Shire.
“Particularly, on behalf of council I wish to thank Damien for his work in bringing forward a restructure of the organisation which will result in efficiencies and cost savings and provide council and the community with a good footing moving forward.”
David Walker has been acting CEO in Mr Connor’s absence.
