THERE was a tasty breakfast, an interesting guest speaker and lots of laughs during the Women of Warwick breakfast meeting last week.
About 90 people attended the event at Rupert’s Bar and Grill on Tuesday morning.
Guest speaker Felicity Philp from Friendship Food spoke about how she battled a debilitating disease by changing her diet and eating healthier foods. She wrote a book of recipes to help other people who also have health issues.
Dr Louise Clarke from Condamine Medical Centre also spoke at the event and had everyone in stitches as she put a positive spin on the ‘seven deadly sins’.
Nicole Kane was the MC for the event and major sponsors were Heritage Bank and QRRRWB. Door prize sponsors for A Spoonful of WOW were Robert’s Bar and Grill, Soul Trend Leggings and Friendship Food.
On Friday, the focus turned to the younger generation of WOWs for the inaugural meeting of WOW Connect.
Around 35 young women came together in the interests of networking, information and inspiration and heard from a couple of entertaining speakers while sampling the fare at the Belle Vue Cafe.
Kirsten Payne, a cadet journalist from the Daily News, spoke about her travels and time with Amnesty International and Brisbane’s Lauren Bourke gave guests an outline of her blog thisonewayticket.com
Brook Clare volunteered her photography skills and JC’s Inspirational Hair donated hair products as prizes.
The event was one of two events held under the auspices of Southern Downs Youth Service for Youth Week, the other being a blue light disco.
The next WOW event is Women at the Waterhole on Friday 2 May, at 5.30pm at Palace Hotel. Everyone is welcomed to attend. The next breakfast event is at Coffee Club on Tuesday 3 June, at 6.30am. Tickets go on sale three weeks prior.
