THE Brush with Verse Awards for art inspired by poetry are on again in Tenterfield.
This is an art prize with a difference and art judge Helen Grant, editor of Australian Artist Magazine will certainly be spotting for new talent.
Works in any medium are welcome but all works must be accompanied by some inspiring lines of verse. All poetic styles are welcome.
Tenterfield Shire’s Acquisitive Art Prize of $1500 is the jewel of the awards crown to be announced on 4 April, but there are several other prizes available.
The awards include those for original poetry written by the artist or a collaborator submitted with an artwork. These will be judged by David Hallett one of Australia’s premier performance poets who will give worthy appraisal whatever your poetic genre. Once again several prizes are on offer.
A Brush with Verse is committed to a high standard of exhibited verse, so if you don’t have poetry in your bones then you should draw from a proven source, from classic poems to contemporary verse, the field is open. Even a favourite song lyric may fuel your artistic fire.
This fusion of poetry and art will hit the wall at Forest to Furniture Gallery on 4 April.
