Stars align for carols event

CHRISTMAS will come early in Warwick with award-winning singer/songwriter Lyn Bowtell headlining a stellar line-up of entertainment at Carols in the Park this Saturday, 14 December from 5.30pm.
Warwick Tourism and Events CEO Tracy Vellacott will compere for the evening, leading a crowd of thousands through an evening filled with everyone’s favourite carols, from traditional Christmas songs to holiday classics that will have everyone singing along.
“Warwick has definitely got its Christmas groove on over the past couple of weeks with loads of festive fun in the shopping centre, downtown Palmerin Street, at Allora’s Bush Christmas last week and now it’s Leslie Park’s turn,” Mrs Vellacott said.
The entertainment kicks off at 5.30pm with traditional carols from the Warwick City Band, a visit from Santa at 6pm, followed by the stage program at 6.30pm.
Members of the Warwick Rotary and Lions Clubs, together with the team from Community Disaster Relief will provide burgers, hot chips, a sausage sizzle, fairy floss, popcorn and
other summer favourites. Coffee, ice-cream and a good old Aussie pie will also be available.
Children are being encouraged to come dressed as one of Santa’s little helpers in support of the Rotary Club’s Christmas dress-up competition.
President Darren Bray said that the Rotary team gets a special thrill out of the children’s excitement on the night.
“Even though the atmosphere is always festive but frantic, club members want to encourage children to dress up in their Christmas costumes to ignite even more spirit at the event,” Mr Bray said.
Warwick’s Carols in the Park will be held at the band rotunda on the Palmerin Street side of Leslie Park.
