A COLLABORATION first discussed in 2011 has resulted in the Canvas and Clay Connection, launched on Friday at the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery.
Canvas and Clay Connection is a fusion of Laurie’s idyllic paintings and Maryke’s charming pottery.
On first view of the exhibition one would be forgiven for thinking that the works are by the same artist, a statement which truly tells of how much the artworks complement each other.
“Together, they form a beautiful, harmonious partnership which fills the gallery with earthy tones and gives a real sense of spring,” said gallery manager Nicola Holly.
Ms Holly said the feedback from the local public has been extraordinary.
Over 160 people attended the launch of the exhibition.
Also showing at the gallery is Artery by glass blower Verity Jasmin Burley.
“Verity takes the ancient form of glass making and turns it on its head in a cheeky, humorous fashion,” Ms Holly said.
“Her objects, ranging from mini installations to a glass watermelon wearing a diaper will be sure to deconstruct people’s view on traditional glass making.
“Call into the gallery and prepare to be ‘blown away’.”
