TENTERFIELD VETERAN GOLFERS

ON Tuesday 23 September, 38 Tenterfield Veteran’s and 14 visitors from the Logan Golf Club, Brisbane played a Red Tee Stableford event in fine sunny conditions.
Red-hot scores were the order of the day with Karen Manser blitzing the course on 44pts, from runner-up, the ever-consistent Eric Lawrence who had 42pts. Karen has been asked to explain her stunning reversal of form. Balls down the line went to; Ken Hines 41, Rod Stanford 40, Ian Wade 40, Diane Benson 39, Philip Laurence Haig 39, Terry Daly 38, Eric Butler 38, Trevor Houghton 38, Garry Nicholls 37, Gordon Kay 37, Thomas Flanaghan 37 and Allan Nicholls 36. Best front nine went to John Meredith with 22 while best back nine was taken out by Carol Baker on 21.
Nearest the pin on the 18th was Shaun Kluck at 240cm, Captain’s draw was June Williams and mystery hole, the 3rd, went to John Gale with a four pointer.
No normal golf competition next Tuesday as the October Veteran’s Week of Golf is in progress.
Players will be back on the fairways on 15 October.
ON 17 September, 22 veteran members and two invited juniors braved the blustery westerly wind at the Tenterfield Golf Course. Rodney Stanford won the Club Trophy with 40 points on a countback from runner-up Steve Holmes.
Balls in the run down to Eric Lawrence 40; Garry Nicholls and Peter Moll 39; Ash Harrison, James Shaw and John Augustson 38. Nearest to pin No. 18 Neil Gale 284cm. Best front Don Iedema 21; Best back Nine Neil Gale 19 c/b; Mystery Hole No. 18 all squared with three-pointers and Captain’s draw to Karen Manser.
Four members travelled to the Bonalbo over 50s day with Gary Sutcliffe our best with overall second place. Reports were a great day was enjoyed by all with old friendships renewed.
