SOUTHERN DOWNS RIFLE CLUB WARWICK

CLUB shooters tackled the 600-yard range on what was a beautiful spring day on Sunday, however we only had a small attendance for the double 600-yard shoot.
Rob Bondfield scored 49.6 in Target Rifle but only completed one range. In the Scope Class F Standard out of a possible 126, scores were Barry Russell 116.5, Graham Eagle 114.4, Dave Norman 110.2, Dave Taylor 106, Margaret Taylor 102.2, Carl Reid 93.1 and Rob Smythe 87.
Three new people attended the day and found that it was most enjoyable.
Six members have attended the Range Officers Course and these six will be a great asset to the club in general. The club also takes this opportunity to say thank you to Darby Mathews for his time and effort in the instruction of the Range Officers Course.
The next event to be held on the 6 October will be held at the 300-yard range, this is a great range for those who still have 303s.
The Darling Downs District Association recently held their Premier Teams Shoot at our range on Sunday 22 September.
The event consisted of five teams of four contestants from around the Downs. The winning team came from Crows Nest Goombungee with a top Score of 578.49. Darling Downs were runners-up with a score of 567.39.
Top score for the Iron Class Sight Target Rifle went to Ashley Bidgood of Crows Nest Goombungee with a Score of 147.16. Top Score for F Open went to Margaret Taylor of Southern Downs Rifle Club with a Score of 144.2, The Top Score for F Standard went to B Mansfield Scoring 159.3. Top Scorers for the F Standard Team went to Dave Norman 158 and Dave Taylor 158 of Southern Downs Rifle Club.
We wish to thank all those who took part in the teams shoot and made it a successful event.
Mungindi scores: Beth Caskey from Pittsworth won the Sweep Stakes on Saturday and also the Best lady in F Class A on Sunday. Rob Bondfield of Southern Downs Rifle Club came third overall with a Score of 147.10, Congratulations to all the placegetters.
New members are very welcome to come along and try Long Range Target Shooting for a sport, they will find that it is a great sport to be involved in and they will meet great people who are only too happy to assist.
Anyone wishing to attend and who does not possess a rifle, a club rifle can be made available to them for the day’s event.
