Robert and Peggy Channon with the trophies from Cairns Show and the Qld Wine Awards.

FOR the second year in a row, Robert Channon Wines have won the Provenance Trophy at the Queensland Wine Awards for their reserve chardonnays.
This trophy is presented to the outstanding wine entered in the show over three separate vintages.
The winning wines were Robert Channon’s reserve chardonnay 2005, 2007 and 2009.
Mr Channon said the judges apparently thought the 2007 was the standout of these.
“So we are re-releasing it because we thought that it would age well,” he said.
“All up, it has been an excellent year for our chardonnays with our sparkling chardonnay also winning a trophy at the Cairns Show a few weeks ago.
“I think it shows that chardonnay, although a mainstream variety, is still one of the best for the Granite Belt.”
