GOOD FINISHES IN REP GAMES

By Casey O'Connor

Two Rep games between Stanthorpe and Warwick have been decided in recent weeks and honours are one all.

In the Davis Shield game Warwick who are defending the title they won last season set Stanthorpe a 199 run target. There were some good performances with the bat from Sean Bryson (48), Tom Bourke (39) and Pat Gordon (15) in the Warwick innings. Josh Wren was Stanthorpe’s leading wicket taker with four dismissals.

In reply Mitch Drayton (36) and Tom Bonner (26) led the way. Brock Patti also added 16 runs after taking two wickets. Tight bowling from the Warwick attack kept a lid on the Stanthorpe scoring. Sean Bryson played pivotal all rounders role taking 2/17 while Luke Cullen finished with 3/31 and captain Dave Walker picked up 2/22.

Warwick dismissed the visitors for 179. Although well shy of the required total this was a competitive game played in good spirit.

Last weekend the Mitchell Shield sides faced off and again at Slade Oval.

Stanthorpe batted first and Sam Dowie continued his excellent recent form with the bat scoring 70 plus runs. There was good support from Ben Staley and Charlie Moncada. The Warwick bowling attack did a good job to restrict the visitors to 172 after a solid opening saw them cruise to 1/152. Excellent bowling from Carter Bilbrough 3/19 from eight overs and Joe Morris 5/11 from six overs had Warwick chasing a very gettable total.

The game always looked as though it would go right to the wire. The Stanthorpe bowling attack gave their opponents nothing and Warwick fell just five runs short of the target.

Some tight bowling by Stanthorpe restricted the Warwick team as they fell 5 runs short of the total off their 50 overs. Moncada backed up his batting with four wickets while Liam Lanza snared three.
