WINE RACING BRINGING CROWDS

By Casey O'Connor

The members of the Stanthorpe Jockey Club and a host of volunteers will be busy this Sunday morning putting the final touches on Armstrong Park for the Stanthorpe Cup meeting the following weekend.

Secretary of the Turf Club Jill Brunckhorst said earlier this week interest is building around the annual race meeting with plenty of local and out of town inquiries and bookings. If you require reserved seating or wish to book lunch in the marquee you should contact Jill as soon as possible on 0400 361 186.

The club will be running free buses from the Country Club to the track and returning patrons to town after the last.

There will be live entertainment after the races and buses to ferry stayers back to town later in the evening.

A reminder that the event is child friendly but all minors must be accompanied by an adult.

While there will be plenty of food options available on course patrons are welcome to bring their own picnic basket. Bringing alcohol on to the course however is strictly prohibited and will be strictly monitored by security.

The Fashions on the Field, always a popular event has been well supported by local business and returns again in 2019.

Punters, book makers and patrons will be keen to take advantage of the new covered betting ring which extends the all weather area, especially if the current high temperatures continue. The Stanthorpe Cup 2019 will give locals an opportunity to put thoughts of the recent fires and continuing drought behind them for a few hours and enjoy a wonderful day out. With Ballandean Estate again on hand serving award winning wines and the bars operating at full swing there is little more to say than “Let’s Go Wine Racing” and hopefully find some winners.
