Polo action at Clifton

Angus Gunn of North Star was named player of the tournament as well as his horse, Twist, winning best playing pony in the A grade.

Clifton Recreation Ground has seen plenty of over Polo action over the past two weeks. The Downs Morgans Polo team took out the Cooke O’Leary Shield.

Team members, Russell May, Justin Cowley, Jack Mantova and Aiden Nunn, won the A grade final 6-1 against a strong North Star line-up.

The B grade final, was won by the Downs Hooper Accountants team of Hamish MacIntosh, Zac Cochrane, and Derek and Will Gilmore who were too, strong for the Primo side of Vince Ferraro, Tony Telford, Indi Bennetto, and James Shepherd.

Eleven teams which included players from Goondiwindi, North Star, Beaudesert, Gympie, and Warialda, as well as the local Downs Polo Club players competed over the weekend.

Last weekend the Downs Polo season continued with the Silver Shop Bracelet attracting 14 teams from Gympie, Goondiwindi, North Star, Beaudesert and the local area.

A grade winner was the Downs Hooper Accountants team (Mark Adamson, Peter Cooke, Derek Gilmore and Angus Gunn). they had a 3-2 win over the Downs Raff team (Graham Mann, Paul MacGinley, Damien Allport and Aiden Nunn).

Angus Gunn, of North Star, was named the player of the tournament, and won the A grade pony prize with ‘Twist’.
