Rain no pain for sporters

By Casey O'Connor

The rain fell on the greens and fairways but did little to deter the Sporters’ crew on Sunday morning and the big field could have been forgiven for skipping down the fairways doing a rain dance.

Something certainly put a spring in Angelo’s Magueri’s step and he claimed a win in Sunday’s round. Mark Lynam finished close but not close enough and had to settle for the runner’s up spot but also took home a Meat Tray so he had no complaints.

Paul Armstrong returned the Best Gross of the round and he and John Rawlings figured in the run downs. Rawlings also skipped off with the second meat tray on offer. Dick Hilton took the Pin Shot on the third but alas there were No Takers for the Pro Pin.

Sporters are looking forward to teeing off next Sunday with fingers crossed for some more rain. They will be out and about from 7.30am – 8.00am – Why not join the crew?
