Last for first win in Stableford

By Casey O'Connor

It was a last for first for the winner of the Men’s Single Stableford event, at the Stanthorpe Golf Club Charles Seeto. Seeto won the competition with a score of 39 points but it will be his last hurrah at the club as he is relocating due to a work transfer. It was a fitting result for his final competition in Stanthorpe. The club and members wish Charles and his family all the best in his new role.

After a count back Mick O’Brien filled the runner’s up position relegating Ian Pickering to the run downs after both players finished with 37 points.

The close rivalry in the ladies competition between Lyn Ludlow and Nikki Waterworth continues. The pair finished locked on 35 points. This week it was Ludlow who nailed the prize after the count back – Nikki Waterworth settling for the runners up spot.

Pin shots went to Eric McLellan at three, Ian Henderson at 12 and Greg Fraser at 17.

Lyn Ludlow had best approach at 17. Pro-pins were claimed by Hayden Smith at 1/10, Barry Hughes at 5/14 and Matt Waterworth at 9/18.

The birdies nest at 11 was popular and resulted in a three split. Scott Constable, Darryl Boekholt and Brendon Barker, each finished with a share.

In the run down, Ian Pickering, Billy Webb, Matt Waterworth, Lorraine Evans and Madeline Jarman all left with a golf ball.

The club thanks Ron and Annelle Batterham for sponsoring the competition and providing the trophies and post game refreshments.

The club has scheduled another Single Stableford for this Saturday and tee off is from 11.00am. There is a time sheet on the board for this event which will be sponsored by club members Eric and Shaneen McLellan.
