Stanthorpe wins Zone

The Stanthorpe under 14/15’s team played eight matches, winning or drawing all games to take out the inaugural South West Queensland Zone Championships.
The past seven weeks have been busy for the Stanthorpe under 14/15’s representative squad as most Sundays have seen both parents and players travel to Toowoomba to compete in the zone championships organised by SouthWest Football.
Teams from Chinchilla/Dalby, Nanango/Kingaroy, Gatton, Warwick and Toowoomba participated to ensure a quality competition.
The level of skill by all competing teams was excellent, in fact even though Stanthorpe were undefeated, they were running second equal on the table, and needed to win the last two games and ensure no goals were scored against them to take the inaugural title.
Congratulations to all players: Matty Swinburne, goal keeper, Aaron Minifie, Brendan Suell, Nick Pace, Ernesto Hernandez, Lachie Williamson in defence, Alex Bell (captain), Nick Barbera, Arbcil Kamara, Emmy Ball, Kevin Collett in mid field, Brodie Bush, Lachlan Lange, Dan Cridland, Holly Hitchener and Isaac Neill up front.
Coach Graham Minifie would like to thank assistant coach Neville Bell, Tony Cridland team manager, all parents and players for their commitment.
He said the team will be back in 2012 to defend the title at under 15’s/16’s level.
