Back In The Clubhouse

One local football and cricket supporter John Cobon is pleased to finally be back in the CF White Clubhouse following the construction of an approved disabled ramp and grand stand seating for the elderly and wheelchair bound in the community. Funding for this project was obtained from the Queensland Government’s, Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Mr. Cobon, wheelchair bound after an accident, is pleased that he will be able to finally to watch local cricket and soccer from the Clubhouse. “It is great that Football Stanthorpe have addressed the accessibility issue of the clubhouse for people unable to negotiate stairs. All they need now is an accessible toilet and external pathways to allow access to all parts of the facility.”
The Stanthorpe & District Cricket Association who share this facility with Football Stanthorpe are currently completing a Gambling Community Benefit Fund Grant application for the construction of a disabled toilet and external pathways for those very facilities.  Mr. Cobon has assisted the association with their efforts and has provided a letter of support for the funding.
“I am 100 per cent behind the cricket association’s efforts in continuing the great work that Football Stanthorpe has just completed at the clubhouse. I am pleased to recommence attending cricket matches as a volunteer and spectator again without assistance. I wish the association luck in the next round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund,” he said recently.
Michael Jensen, the Local Sports Coordinator for the Stanthorpe Sports Association Inc. is currently assisting the Stanthorpe & District Cricket Association in preparing the Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant application. In conjunction with this application, the Cricket Association is also applying to install Solar Panels and a Solar Hot Water System to the clubhouse to reduce the running costs.
