Stanthorpe plays in basketball regionals

The Stanthorpe Basketball Association was able to send away two teams, Under 11s Mixed and Under 13s Mixed, to the recent Junior Regional Basketball Carnival. Teams came from as far away as Hervey Bay, Tenterfield and Highfields to compete in the carnival which was held in Toowoomba.
This was the first time that Under 11s from Stanthorpe have competed in the carnival and they performed well. They may not have won any games but they were very close and it was anyone’s, right up to the end.
There were some great steals from players as well as outstanding defence and awesome shots.
In their second year at the carnival, the Under 13s should be proud of their achievements. Their defence, attack and all-round ball skills were amazing.
They won one and lost three games. Again their games were close and it was anyone’s, right until the end.
There was some outstanding defence from both Brooke Robertson and Chelsea Swinburne who stole the ball more times than we could count, in one game.
Congratulations to Jeremy Bell and Morgan Blake for highest scorers in the winning match, with Jeremy on 15 and Morgan on 12.
Jess Hayes, Corey Rashleigh and Victor Johnstone showed some great ball skills and defence, especially the double teaming.
