Roosters crowing

It was a busy day at Sullivan Oval last Saturday with a full round of Junior fixtures (The Juniors Gremlins hosted Wattles) followed by the Reserve Grade and A Grade clash between the Gremlins and Inglewood.
The Inglewood Roosters brought the Stanthorpe Gremlins unbeaten run in to a halt and added another trophy to their war chest with a win in the Patron’s Shield match. Inglewood held a handy 18-6 half-time lead in the match.  Stanthorpe showed plenty of courage forcing their way back into the contest in the second half. The Roosters strong back line proved to be the difference between the two sides. The Roosters Ashleigh Klein scored a double while Tony Morris, Sam Martin, Matthew Gainey and Brent Osborne all found the line with a try each.  Captain coach Matt Gainey, who kicked six goals in addition to his try, led from the front and was named Man of the Match.
The Gremlins Jason Wilmot also scored a double and kicked four goals and was best on ground for the home side. The remaining Stanthorpe points came courtesy of tries from Mathew Rudd, Brendan Perkins and Aaron Abraham.  Border League patron Kevin Condick of Tenterfield was on hand to present the trophy to the Inglewood side. Stanthorpe Reserve grade notched up another convincing win with a 34-24 defeat of Inglewood.
