Warwick Netball benefits from Geitz’s outstanding form

Allora’s Laura Geitz stepped up to the enormous challenge of the ANZ Championship’s first ever super round at the weekend – so much so that Warwick Netball will receive $1000 for her efforts.
Geitz brought her great form into round three of the competition, winning the Player of the Match award in her Queensland Firebirds game against 2010 Premiers, the Adelaide Thunderbirds, on Saturday afternoon in Brisbane.
Geitz was impressive as goal keeper, causing a lot of hassles for the normally accurate shooter Carla Borrego, which helped guide her team to a 64-41 win over the Thunderbirds.
Her three point Player of the Match selection resulted in $1000 being donated to Warwick Netball.
The Firebirds then backed up again on Monday, with a 62-38 win against the West Coast Fever in Perth, in which Geitz was awarded the one point in the Player of the Match tally.
This is the first time in three years the Firebirds have defeated the Fever in Perth.
The Queensland side is now situated on top of the ladder, with three wins from three games.
In their first game of the season they managed to beat competition favourites, the NSW Swifts, 51-48.
