Wallangarra drive-in COVID-19 testing to close

Darling Downs Health has announced upcoming changes for its drive-in COVID-19 testing centre at Wallangarra.

In a statement released earlier today – Thursday 8 October – Darling Downs Health Chief Executive Dr Peter Gillies said the drive-in test centre located adjacent to the Wallangarra Driver Reviver Rest Area is scheduled to cease operations from 4pm this Sunday, 11 October.

“The Wallangarra drive-in centre was established to provide testing for travellers and interstate heavy vehicle operators, but we are seeing the majority of those drivers being tested at our Goondiwindi drive-in site,” Dr Gillies said.

“There have been very small numbers of drivers coming through for testing at Wallangarra but if the situation changes we are fully equipped and able to re-establish the Wallangarra site at very short notice.

“Our drive-in site at the Goondiwindi Caltex Truckstop will continue to provide drive-in testing and we also offer drive-in testing for travellers and heavy vehicle operators at the Charlton BP Truckstop just west of Toowoomba on the Warrego Highway.”
