A man has been charged with one count of murder in relation to the death of a 54 year old man in Warwick late yesterday, Wednesday 16 September.

Dwayne Thomas Andrew Watts, 29, of Warwick, remains in custody after being detained for questioning by police and later charged in relation to the death, which took place on Hope Street in Warwick’s east.

The charge was mentioned in the Warwick Magistrates Court earlier today, Thursday 17 September. The case was adjourned for further mention on Monday 7 December 2020.

Police were called to the Hope Street address around 5.30pm yesterday in relation to a disturbance and located the 54 year man deceased at the premises.

Police say the deceased had sustained injuries to his head and face and police will allege they were caused by a “long-bladed weapon”.

Information is being sought by police from a number of other persons who were at the address during the course of Wednesday afternoon and further forensic investigations are continuing.
