In Warwick it is easy to see why seniors should be celebrated during Seniors Week and every week according to Warwick Friendly Society General Manager Ahmad Almesfer.
“The Warwick community provides the most wonderful example of seniors engaged and thriving!” Ahmad said.
“Everywhere you look our older people are involved in making the most wonderful things happen for our community.”
To this end Warwick Friendly Society will once again be celebrating Seniors Week.
“Even though we can’t be together this year we can still celebrate,” he said.
“This year the Warwick Friendly Society Seniors Week activity will be online. Follow our Facebook page from 15 – 23 August to see some familiar faces share their favourite recipes to try at home.”
The Friendly Society has many services to support members and the Warwick community.
“Like any new life stage getting older brings its own challenges,” Ahmad said.
The Friendly Society offers a number of services to make things easier at home and on the go.
Medication Packing Services: for those sick of having to juggle multiple medications, containers and boxes the MPS packets are small, easy to open pouches that hold up to ten medications at each dose. These prepacked sachets can even include vitamins or other non-script medications which have to be taken regularly. Each is individually labelled with the medication and dose information and small enough to slip discreetly into a pocket or handbag. Whether at home or travelling they take the hassle out of managing medications. Pop in to their Palmerin St store to see some sample packets and talk to their MPS team about how useful they can be.
Mobility Equipment and Home Health: Changes in mobility and ability can make a big impact on how someone views the world and their place in it. The Friendly Society has a range of walking aids, walkers, wheelchairs, and scooters to keep you up and about safely. They also offer a range of items to help make life at home a little easier. If a customer has a recommendation from a occupational therapist, physio or friend the Friendly Society can help with special orders to get exactly what is needed.
Mobility Hire: For those recovering from surgery or an injury, or needing some temporary assistance at home for a guest or loved one – members can hire a range of mobility and independent living aids from the Palmerin St store including shower chairs and wheelchairs.
Sleep Apnoea: Feeling sleepy during the day or depressed, irritable or moody? Or is a partner concerned about snoring? Speak to a GP about getting a referral to their Sleep Clinic for a convenient home test to see if Sleep Apnea treatment could help.
