Agent says rate of buyer enquiry still strong

Helen Harm says buyers have always been attracted by Warwick''s location and pace of lifestyle.

One local real estate agent who hasn’t noticed any downturn in buyer enquiry due to COVID-19 is Warwick’s Helen Harm – in fact she believes the pandemic has if anything had a positive impact on the local market.

Helen says over the last couple of months she’s fielded the same rate of sales enquiry from potential buyers from outside of the region as she would normally receive.

It’s something she attributes to the Southern Downs region’s geographical location and the positives of regional living.

“I think the virus if anything has brought home to a lot of people the importance of family,” Helen says.

“The lockdowns and the social isolation have had the effect of reminding people how important family time is and how we might have been letting some of those things slip.

“From a property perspective the feedback I’m receiving is people see Warwick as an attractive place to potentially re-locate – it’s a less stressful pace of life and a better overall quality of life, particularly for families.

“That’s one of the best things we have to offer in regional areas like ours.

“We’ve certainly been seeing a similar rate of enquiry from people from outside the area – that hasn’t declined at all.

“We have a steady long-term real estate market here in Warwick – we’re not subject to quite the same highs and lows as the property market in the capital cities.

“We’re steady and stable and that represents a safe real estate investment for a lot of people, you might not make a squillion but you’re not going to lose money.

“Certainly the message I am hearing is that people want to get out of the big cities and some of them want to move here – if anything coronavirus has reinforced that with a lot of people.”
