The Southern Downs Regional Council will next week open COVID-19 ‘Recovery Hubs’ in Warwick and Stanthorpe to gather feedback from the community and businesses on support required from the council.

The council has said the ‘Recovery Hubs’ will be located at the Warwick Town Hall and the Stanthorpe Civic Centre Supper Room for at least a month from next Wednesday 20 May and will be staffed by council officers and councillors.

A council spokeswoman said “social distancing will be maintained and a booking/meeting system will be used to help facilitated individual meetings”.

Today’s Special Council Meeting is due to discuss a raft of ‘stage one’ financial measures related to COVID-19 and proposed by the council, including freezing and waiving of various fees and charges, including a freeze on the Invasive Pest Control Scheme (IPCS).

Councillors will meet from 2pm with the meeting to be live-streamed on the council’s Facebook page at – www.facebook.com/MYSDRC/
