Major improvements for two of region’s showgrounds

The Allora Show Society and the Stanthorpe Agricultural Society will benefit from the funding.

Two of the region’s show societies will benefit from almost $9.5 million worth of improvements funded through a Federal Government program.

Federal Maranoa MP David Littleproud said the Allora Showgrounds “will have a fresh face when the canteen and bar are refurbished with a $465,455 through the Federal Government’s Regional Agricultural Show Development Grants program”.

Mr Littleproud also announced the Stanthorpe Showgrounds exhibition centre is set for a “spacious overhaul” thanks in part to a $480,000 investment through the same program.

“The Allora Show is a major drawcard for the region and it will be back in 2021 bigger and better than ever before with a renovated canteen and bar,” Mr Littleproud said.

“An all-purpose, covered arena with seating will be built – when the show society’s next event rolls around they will have more options in which events they host and that’s going to provide the audience with even more entertainment.

“A mezzanine will be built in the Stanthorpe Showgrounds exhibition centre which is going to give the Show Society many options in how they choose to run their future programs.

“By creating more space, there’s going to be more exhibits on offer – that’s sure to interest show goers more and market the region well to its visitors.”

Mr Littleproud said a total of 122 regional shows received a portion of funding through the $20 million Regional Agricultural Show Development grants program.
