New Telstra towers by end of 2020: Littleproud

Elbow Valley east of Warwick and The Falls near Killarney will have Telstra mobile towers installed by the end of 2020 – funded through Round Five of the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Programme – “handing locals and travellers a secure connection in the digital age” Maranoa MP David Littleproud said this week.

“I promised before being elected to improve mobile coverage and in the last term I secured 35 new towers,” Mr Littleproud said.

“An additional 11 across Maranoa builds on the Federal Government’s commitment to improve connectivity across regional Australia.

“Whether you’re visiting, living nearby or out in the paddock, mobile signal will be a game changer in the Elbow Valley and The Falls areas.

“While we can’t travel unless it’s essential at the moment, once we’re through the pandemic, hikers and tourists moving through The Falls area will have peace of mind that they can access emergency services.

“If you’re in the Elbow Valley area, improved digital connectivity means access to the world for business, staying in touch with loved ones or keeping up to speed with the news.

“Breaks in our communications hinder emergency services, tourism and business – that’s why this program is so important for Maranoa and why I’ve been advocating so hard on this issue.”

Mr Littleproud said the new base stations in his electorate – including those at Elbow Valley and The Falls “are expected be activated by the end of the year”.
