Have your say at Q&As…

The Southern Downs Regional Council is inviting the community to bring their questions and provide feedback on the big issues impacting the region at the upcoming Question and Answer sessions in Stanthorpe and Warwick.

A council statement this week says “ahead of critical water restrictions which come into effect on 1 September 2019, the sessions will provide a timely forum for the community to raise issues and concerns, and for Council to respond”.

Mayor Tracy Dobie said that while the main focus of the sessions will be water supply and storage, other issues could be raised.

“Clearly water is huge concern and major agenda item, and the sessions will have a strong focus on the drought’s impact on the region’s water supply and storage and how Council is addressing the future supply of water,” Cr Dobie said.

“We want to address the water questions and concerns of residents and businesses, and provide accurate and up-to-date information on the water crisis as we all move towards critical water restrictions.

“The sessions are an opportunity to address how our region will move forward and tackle the current and upcoming water challenges.

“These sessions are the appropriate platform to ask questions, share concerns, speak with Councillors, and to ensure that the community receives the right information from Council on any important issues affecting the region they would like discussed.

“I look forward to meeting with members of our community and having frank discussions about the future of our region.”
