One of the Southern Downs Regional Council’s most senior managers has quit his role less than eight months after being appointed, the Free Times can reveal.

A council spokesman confirmed today, Monday 20 May, that Graham O’Byrne has resigned from his position as Director of Infrastructure Services.

“Council would like to thank Mr O’Byrne for his contribution while employed with SDRC, particularly in regards to water and water management during this time of drought, and wish him all the best for the future,” a council statement issued today said.

It is understood Mr O’Byrne handed in his resignation last Friday.

The Free Times has attempted to contact Mr O’Byrne for comment as to the reason for his apparently sudden and unexpected departure from the council.

He was appointed to his role last September.
