The Cunningham Highway at Cunninghams Gap will be closed between 7am to 9am and 1pm to 3pm for six days from this Monday 5 November through to Saturday 10 November inclusive, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) says.
A spokesman said a contractor commissioned by the department will be carrying out works “directly above the road, including stabilisation of large boulders and removal of loose debris”, weather permitting.
“The highway will be closed to all vehicles,” the spokesman said.
“Emergency vehicles will be allowed access if required.
“The work can only be completed by closing the highway in both directions to ensure the travelling public’s safety.
“The stabilisation work has been scheduled to be delivered at the same time as other programmed works within the district.
“A detour is available from Ipswich Rosewood Road via Gatton Helidon Road, heading towards Warwick on the New England Highway.”
