Bushfire warning downgraded

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) have advised a bushfire at Ballandean south of Stanthorpe has been downgraded to the “advice” level.

Residents had been advised yesterday, Sunday 12 August, to prepare to leave their properties if conditions worsened.

The fire continues to burn near Lynams Road this morning and is travelling in an easterly direction towards Ballandean, with residents still cautioned to monitor the situation.

QFES says people in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.

“Crews are working to strengthen containment lines,” a QFES statement issued this morning, Monday 13 August, said.

“Properties are not under direct threat at this time.

“Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you or your property is under threat.”
