Police are urging members of the public to come forward if they have information about a serious road rage incident which took place near Warwick late yesterday, Thursday 12 July.

Around 5.30 pm yesterday an 18 year old driver was involved in an altercation with the male passenger of a white utility near the Hermitage Research Station on Yangan Road east of Warwick.

Police say the driver of the utility forced the 18 year old’s vehicle off the road and parked in front of him and the male passenger got out of the vehicle and assaulted the 18 year old.

Warwick Police Acting Senior Sergeant Mick Loveday spoke at a media conference at the Warwick Station this afternoon, Friday, saying the passenger of the utility broke the windscreen of the 18 year old’s vehicle and then punched him repeatedly after the driver wound down his window.

The passenger also damaged panels on the vehicle after kicking at them.

The driver of the utility remained in the vehicle during the incident.

The victim of the assault received head injuries and was later treated at Warwick Hospital.

Due to his shock over the assault the 18 year old was only able to provide sketchy details of his attacker and the utility to police, but the attacker is described as “balding”.

The utility is understood to be a white four-wheel-drive tray back, possibly a Toyota Hilux, with the partial registration of 261.

Anyone with any knowledge of this vehicle and its occupants is urged to contact the Warwick Police on 4660 4444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously 24/7 on 1800 333 000.
