The Cunningham Highway just south of Aratula will be closed in both directions for several hours following an accident involving a truck this afternoon, Monday 2 July.

It is understood a man has been critically injured after the truck he was driving – believed to be a vintage fire truck – broke down and rolled on him or dragged him as he was working on it on the side of the highway.

He has suffered multiple critical injuries and there are unconfirmed reports he has died at the scene.

The incident is understood to have happened around midday.

Paramedics and other emergency services remain on the scene.

Local motorists heading to or from Brisbane will be required to divert through Toowoomba or the Gatton-Clifton Road for the next few hours.
