Columns reflect community

St Mary’s Parish Crafty Circle craft group was asked to include the Catholic Church in this year’s Jumpers and Jazz Festival.

With donated pieces ranging from squares to butterflies, flowers and even some finger knitting from children, the group managed to pull it together.

Many volunteers – and many hours of stitching and sewing, knitting and crocheting were involved.

St Mary’s is a multicultural, diverse and inclusive parish and this is what gave the group the inspiration for their final piece.

They included sunflowers as they are a very big part of the local community.

The creativeness of the parishioners and their willingness to donate what they made helped the group put together the final creation.

Although they were not in the judging area, the group enjoyed bringing this together – and they already have a plan ready to implement in 2019!
