Water works in the pipeline

The Queensland Government has approved nearly $4 million for the construction of a new pipeline from Stanthorpe’s Storm King Dam to the town’s water treatment plant.
The funding comes under the government’s Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program.
The Southern Downs Regional Council will construct the 8940 metre pipeline from Storm King Dam to the Mount Marley water treatment plant with its grant of $3,939,000.
The treatment plant was built in 1954.
Also funded under the program is $426,435 for the Goondiwindi Regional Council for the Inglewood Effluent Disposal Project.
Local Government Minister Mark Furner said the councils would be given until 30 June 2019 to complete the projects.
