Light rains on the horizon

Southern and border areas of the region have fared better in the rainfall stakes over the last 24 hours than their northern counterparts but all areas have been feeling the cooler change which arrived at the weekend.
Reasonable falls of rain in the double figures were recorded overnight and to 9am today, Monday 2 October, in Stanthorpe and surrounding locations but the outlook is for continued patchy rain in the coming days.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Annabelle Ford told the Free Times showery conditions could be expected for the rest of today, as a cloud band continues to move over southern Queensland from the north-east of the state.
“Tomorrow, Tuesday, will see some more patchy rain and the chance of a thunderstorm,” she said.
“We can expect partly cloudy conditions and patchy showers continuing through Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but temperatures will start to warm up a little again from Wednesday.”
Maximum temperatures for Warwick from Wednesday are expected to be around 27 degrees, with tops in the mid-20s forecast for Stanthorpe for later in the week.
