Former Collegians players and supporters in conjunction with the Warwick Cowboys held a 50th reunion last Saturday to celebrate the 1967 Collegians Rugby League Club winning all three premierships in the Warwick and District Rugby League competition.
League legends Wayne Bennett – who captained the Under 18s back in ’67 – and Shane Webcke were there, with Shane regaling the audience with tales from his early years in professional footy.
The reunion followed Saturday morning’s junior games between Collegians and Eastern Suburbs, including the clash between Under 16 Collegians White and Eastern Suburbs for the Ian Jones and Daniel May Memorial Trophy.
The trophy remembers the loss in a car accident of Eastern Suburbs player Ian Jones and his mate Daniel May of Collegians.
The Warwick Cowboys A-Grade side had another strong win in the TRL competition last weekend, defeating Brothers in Toowoomba 46-22 after downing Gatton the previous weekend 20-16.
