Police investigate juvenile disturbances

Warwick police have formed a special action group to investigate a break in at the Palace Hotel and its possible connection with other incidents in town this week involving a group of juveniles.
The Palace Hotel, which has been closed since late 2015, was broken into sometime between last Saturday and Wednesday, with those involved causing internal damage to the historic pub and stealing alcohol.
It is understood that some members of this group were involved in an incident on Wednesday 18 January at the Condamine River Rockies, near The Scots PGC College weir off East Street.
In the latest incident one juvenile male was taken to hospital after he and a group a group of other intoxicated youths aged around 11 to 15 arrived at the Rockies.
The youth was treated at the scene by paramedics after he passed out due to intoxication.
Other members of the group caused a disturbance to other young people at the popular waterhole and were moved on by police.
A Warwick Police spokesman told the Free Times on Thursday 19 January that investigations into the Palace break-in and the Rockies incident were continuing after a police action group was formed to investigate these and other recent incidents involving juveniles.
The police spokesman said a large amount of evidence had been gathered since the incidents investigations were ongoing.
The police spokesman was unable to confirm if members of the same group of individuals were involved in a disturbance outside a Fitzroy Street business on Monday afternoon, along with bashings of young males which took place before Christmas in the Aldi carpark and near the Grafton Street pedestrian crossing outside Rose City Shoppingworld.
Anyone with information on any of these matters is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
