UPDATE, TUESDAY 1PM: Police have identified a number of suspects involved in two assaults on children in Warwick on Monday, 11 December.
Two children were taken to Warwick Hospital after separate assaults in broad daylight on Monday, in a shocking start to the school holidays.
In the first incident a teenage boy was allegedly attacked and punched by a number of males on Grafton Street near the Acacia Avenue carpark crossing across from Rose City Shoppingworld around 12.30pm.
A Warwick Police spokesman said Child Protection Unit (CPU) officers had spoken to the victim and his mother but a formal complaint had not yet been made.
In a second incident, which police believe may be related to the first assault, a 10-year-old boy was allegedly set upon by a number of attackers in the Aldi carpark at the corner of Albion and Fitzroy streets.
The 10-year-old victim has made a formal complaint to the police.
The police spokesman said up to 10 potential suspects, all juveniles, had been identified in relation to the incidents and the CPU officers were continuing with their investigations.
